Never Not Creative launches Creative Industry Support Line for free legal advice

Never Not Creative, the non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the mental well-being of the creative industry, has announced the launch of the Creative Industry Support Line. The initiative will provide individuals within the creative industry with free introductory legal advice to address various issues such as exploitation, discrimination, abusive behaviour, bullying, and harassment.

This initiative aligns with Never Not Creative’s overarching mission to bridge the gaps in the creative industry that impact mental well-being, ensuring a healthier, safe and more supportive professional landscape for all.

Recognising the unique challenges faced by professionals in the creative and marketing industries, Never Not Creative has partnered with Media Arts Lawyers, a renowned legal firm specialising in the media and entertainment industries, to offer crucial ‘first step’ legal advice to individuals in need. The Creative Industry Support Line will serve as a valuable resource, helping creative professionals navigate legal complexities and empowering them to protect their rights and well-being.

Says Andy Wright, founder of Never Not Creative: “This is an idea that’s been discussed in a few forums over the last couple of years. For one reason or another, it’s never got up. We’re delighted to be able to partner with Media Arts Lawyers to pilot the Creative Industry Support Line as a pivotal step in our ongoing commitment to supporting the creative community. Our hope is that we’ll level the playing field and allow people to get clarity on their rights at work. We hear many stories of negative experiences that get hidden away or swept under the carpet. We’d just like fair outcomes for individuals so they can understand their situation and make an educated decision, enabling them to confront and resolve challenging situations effectively.”

The Creative Industry Support Line will offer individuals the opportunity to engage in a confidential conversation with an experienced lawyer from Media Arts Lawyers. Each advice call will last up to 30 minutes, during which individuals can discuss their concerns, seek guidance, and gain insight into potential legal courses of action. The service aims to address a range of issues that may affect professionals in the creative industry, including exploitation, discrimination, abusive behaviour, bullying, and harassment.

To access the Creative Industry Support Line, individuals can visit the Never Not Creative website at nevernotcreative.org/support. Information submitted in the form is passed directly to Media Arts Lawyers, and is strictly confidential; specifics are not seen by the Never Not Creative team and are discussed directly between the individual and Media Arts Lawyers.

By launching the Creative Industry Support Line, Never Not Creative takes a proactive stance in addressing legal challenges faced by those in the creative field and serves as a beacon of support for the entire industry.

The pilot will run for an initial period of 2 months. Takeup and funding will then be evaluated to continue the program.
